The Norcross, GA office of Larson Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Junior Process Mechanical Engineer to produce mechanical, process, and piping designs for construction.  The position will develop skills for a wide variety of engineering tasks relating to heavy industrial projects, dealing with process piping & mechanical designs from the initial concept through construction.

Description

Specific tasks will include developing site layouts, equipment layouts, process & instrumentation diagrams, mechanical, thermal, fluid calculations, equipment specifications, cost estimating, bid assistance, construction assistance, etc.

This position will work under the supervision of senior engineers including other disciplines to develop all aspects of various projects.   The position will require direct contact with clients and vendors to meet necessary project goals.    The ideal candidate will be an independent goal seeker and have a growth-orientated personality with a willingness to address all aspects of varying industrial projects.  As an engineering consultant, you will need a broad knowledge of the latest equipment and technology used in the pulp and paper, agricultural, and utility industries, with the ability to develop detailed design solutions for clients.

Specific Responsibilities include:

• Perform process calculations, finite element analysis, pipe & pump sizing, HVAC sizing, pressure drop calculations, etc.
• Creation of equipment, project, and material specifications.
• Utilization of AutoCAD Plant 3D and other 3D design programs to produce construction documents.
• Performing field verifications of new designs and existing environments.
• Perform field surveys and 3D scans for collecting existing information.
• Creation of reports, project summaries and recommendations.
• Develop projects from initial design concepts through construction.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to generate project goals for the client.
• Provide onsite construction assistance.
• Ability to Travel as needed ~15%.

Qualifications

• BSME or BSMET
• 0-10 years' experience in a Design Engineering role for industrial projects
• Engineering in Training and Professional Engineering License Preferred.
• High Proficiency in CAD design and Design Standards
• Excellent presentation and verbal communication skills
• Excellent written communications skills
