The Metro Atlanta office of Larson Engineering, Inc. is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead and produce mechanical, process, and piping designs. The position will require skills for a wide variety of engineering tasks relating to heavy industrial projects which deal with process & mechanical designs from the initial concept through construction.


 Specific tasks will include developing site layouts, equipment layouts, process & instrumentation diagrams, mechanical, thermal, fluid calculations, equipment specifications, cost estimating, bid assistance, construction assistance, etc. Direct experience with the design of industrial piping systems is required for this position.

This position will work directly with multiple disciplines to develop all aspects of various projects. The position will require direct contact with clients and vendors to meet necessary project goals. The ideal candidate will be an independent goal seeker and have a growth-orientated personality with a willingness to address all aspects of varying industrial projects. As an engineering consultant, you will need a broad knowledge of the latest equipment and technology used in the pulp and paper, agricultural, and utility industries, with the ability to develop detailed design solutions for clients.

Specific Responsibilities include:

 Leading, performing, and overseeing specific project tasks related to mechanical and process design.

Performing process calculations, finite element analysis, pipe & pump sizing, HVAC sizing, pressure drop calculations, etc.

Creation of equipment, project, and material specifications.

Experienced use of AutoCAD and other 3D design programs to produce construction documents.

Performing field verifications of new designs and existing environments.

Collecting existing information and interpreting data.

Creation of reports, project summaries and recommendations.

Developing projects from initial design concepts through construction.

Coordinating with other disciplines to generate project goals for the client.

Providing onsite construction assistance.

Ability to Travel as needed ~15%.


  •  BSME or BSMET
  • 5-10 years' experience in a Design Engineering role, for industrial projects
  • Professional Engineer License
  • High Proficiency in CAD design and Design Standards
  • Excellent presentation and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent written communications skills
